PANACEA (protection against nickel allergy, corrosion, erosion, and abrasion) is the most commonly used nickel-free stainless steel for MIM process.
It is believed that its superior mechanical properties will allow it to replace commonly used austenitic stainless steels like 316L in several applications where nickel allergy is not a concern. Originally developed for the medical industry, it is now used for other applications across different markets, including dental braces, jewelry, watch parts, electronics and wearable devices. The alloy is best suited for a component that has constant skin contact. Because Panacea is nickel-free, it will not affect consumers who have a nickel-sensitivity, as many other stainless steels will.
Its non-permeability makes it more feasible for consumer electronics since there is no signal shield. The nickel-free character makes it feasible to wearable parts. So the applications of MIM Panacea are non-magnetic parts with excellent corrosion resistance, medium hardness and good ductility used for watches, jewellery and in the medical- and foodindustry.
